Feature - Opening Soon: Jobs on Main

In 2018, County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo announced an initiative intended to offer easier access to Imagine Monroe staff and resources in the Downtown Rochester office located on the corner of W Main Street and Fitzhugh Street. The project, named Jobs on Main offers various ways to help small businesses grow.

A significant part of Imagine Monroe’s mission is helping businesses grow.

By relocating the Imagine Monroe team from the 8th floor to the 1st and 2nd floor in the CityPlace building and transforming it into a business center, individuals will have access to a one-stop-shop for businesses who are wanting to start, expand or relocate to Monroe County. The redesigned space will give individuals more direct access to Imagine Monroe staff who can help them grow their business.

Construction for the project is well underway and expected to be completed mid-fall.

Jeffrey Adair, Imagine Monroe’s Executive Director is looking forward to the shift. “The creation of Jobs on Main will allow the Imagine Monroe team to be more accessible to residents and employers. It’s exciting to see the space built out as a business resource for the Monroe County community to utilize.”

Imagine Monroe attracts economically sound commerce to Monroe County with the goal of improving the quality of life for the residents here. By encouraging businesses, investors and entrepreneurs to imagine the possibilities in Monroe County, we work toward our goal of protecting and promoting the health of Monroe County residents.

We provide assistance to qualified applicants and projects; however, Imagine Monroe does not lend money for any projects. Instead, we provide assistance through tax exemptions, real property tax abatements, mortgage tax exemptions, and access to lower interest rates through tax-exempt bond issues. Assistance is available for acquiring, constructing, reconstructing, improving, maintaining, equipping and furnishing industrial, manufacturing, warehousing, commercial, research and recreational facilities.

The Monroe County Department of Planning and Development, which includes Workforce Development, Community Development and Planning Services for the County will also accompany Imagine Monroe in this move.

By bringing job-creation experts to Main Street, Imagine Monroe is sending a strong message that Monroe County is ready, willing, and able to help businesses locate and expand on Main Streets in the entire community.
